Imperial Gunners are part of a special sub-unit of the Imperial FIGHTER CORPS. All Imperial ships larger than TIE Starfighter that are equipped with high-tech arms employ these highly trained weapons masters. Gunners are selected based upon keen eyesight, superior reflexes, and a rapport with gunnery weapons. Gunners can be recognized by their specialized computer helmets (usually black). In addition to providing protection from the high-energy output produced by laser batteries, the helmets are equipped with macrobinocular viewplates and sensor arrays to assist with targeting fast moving fighter craft.
